Have a Little Help From My Friends

I love seeing the sights of NYC, and I love seeing the people there. But the main thing that makes NYC special is getting to spend quality time with great friends from Texas. I always loved camp as a kid and retreats as a jr. high/high schooler because it allowed friendships to bond. Spending days at a time with someone will make ya or break ya. There's a lot of different personalities on this type of trip and alot of different gifts. It's fun to watch it all come together.

On this particular night, one of the members of our group met the guy in the black jacket, to my right. He had had a really rough night and began to break down as they spoke to him about Christ, but even more so when they made the effort to reach out. We walked quite a bit to find him a good shelter to go to, and then he promised to find his way to the church to see us the next day. True to his word, there he was, waiting for us, and then he also came to church on Sunday. His first time. He kept saying how we had changed his life, how nobody had ever helped him like that and reached out to him. What a blessing!

Here's a group photo. Almost everybody is in the picture, but it looks like we're missing a few people. This is on the steps of the guesthouse where we stay.

Believe it or not, this is really a hard working bunch. But offer us Frankfurters and Frankfurter Rolls and we're so there. Oh look, there's Luke, and he's eating! And wearing clothes!

I really like this picture!

Here's the Gap Ad picture.

It's always best to be the engine on the massage train. I can so hear Eddo singing his Love Train song right now. Oh, and we've decided the Eddo is the iPod Jumbo. He's got a song for everything!

We were waiting in line for the ferry to take us to Ellis Island. Kodak moment!

I have this photo as my wallpaper. I like it alot.
We referred to the couple on the right as Hansel & Gretel since they were um, a bit lighter than the three of us. So they started trying to adopt the accent. Guess you had to be there, but it was pretty fun.

Here's George, with the "girls". Notice the sheepish grin on his face.

This was at the airport, minutes before Brian and Cat surprised us. YEA!

Wow! Excellent!

Also, "Frankfurters and Frankfurter Rolls"???

hehe I guess we're just low brow around here calling them "hot dogs" and "buns". :-)

Jes - it does look like a backdrop or something, but no, it's the real deal!

Faith - the surprise ending was the culmination of a great trip!

Deals - Me too!

Jayleigh - that's what we call them too! hot dogs and buns. But I was teasing Ralphie about the hot dog "rolls" and then I saw the bag and sure enough, it said rolls! And there's nothin' like hearing a New Yorker say "frankfut-ters".

Great pics and I am sure wonderful memories. I have heard many stories already, I think this trip truly impacted Joseph. Yesterday as we were going to Mardel's I asked if this would be his first Thanksgiving and Christmas to be clean and to celebrate the holiday for the right reason. He said yes and said Dana, you made me cry, I looked over and he was crying!

He also told me he was so happy to have gotten to share with people on the street because he has a fear of talking to anyone that he doesn't know and he is going home Thanksgiving and plans to talk to his family and others. So please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Nice pix. Looks like a wonderful trip!

The whole frankfurter-roll thing - take it from a NYer - they're called buns. The packages are wrong. And franks is really enough of a description - hot dogs is okay, too - but really, one syllable is enough!
