PC Woes

I've been having PC woes lately. Somehow, someway, we got Resident Evil on our computer. It's name is Winfixer and it is my arch-enemy. Me, being the non-tech savvy person that I am, spent from 10pm - 3am on Fri/Sat attempting to rid our home of this evil incarnate, to no avail. It is resistant to Norton, McAfee, and any other program. Ad-aware finds it, and then the evil reigns supreme once again, causing the computer to shut down. EVIL I tell you.

I found some other ways to attempt to exorcise the demons and will work on it tonight.

Blasted pop-ups. Not only is it annoying to no end, they are, shall we say, less than modest?

Have I mentioned how much I hate this program? Good will triumph over evil though.

It will. It must.

I used to work specifically on PC Repair and have dealt a lot with this program. The most effective program I have found to date is Spysweeper, its ranked #1 in most computer magazines for spyware removal. You can download a trial version of it from www.webroot.com. I promise this will get rid of it for good.

oh, yuck..

I use Spybot Search & Destroy but I've heard Spysweeper is fabulous too.

Good luck. I so dislike it when that happens...

I hate viruses, computer and otherwise. I wish I had some helpful advice, but I can only offer sympathy.

I live in a world of computer problems, but for all that, I don't think I could give up my computer. The pains are a necessary evil to keep us from becoming totally computer-dependent.

Computer woes...wasn't life simpler BC (before computers) but what did we do without the internet and blogging????? I spent all weekend trying to free up space because...umm...my computer was full and it kept telling me it was going to self-destruct. So I had to burn 10 cds full of pictures to free up space. I feel your woes.

When my computer misbehaves, I shake my finger at it and call it "a pooter".

This, of course, accomplishes nothing, but it does make me feel a lot better.

Funny. I use the word "pooter" as a term of endearment. Sweet little pooter.

I have no computer advice to give. Die, viruses, DIE.

Our race results are up. Nothing big except for the fact that we actually did it. www.texashalf.com

1st anon and Jes, Webroot finds the virus/trojan, but in order to actually remove it, you have to subscribe to their service. $30 bucks. So, I googled what it found, and then two programs later, I FOUND ONE THAT REMOVED IT. I was elated. ELATED.

Jennybee - Spybot didn't find it either. I had tried that one Fri. night.

Amelia - as computer-dependent as I am, I didn't even want to go near it. But it's free! FREE! no more evil!

Deals, Lia - y'all crack me up. I was SO past calling it pooter, affectionately or not. 8 hours. insanity is caused by less than this.

Miss - I will check it out. Great job! And thanks for the well wishes.
